MCS is most effective when working with families who share our commitments. The admissions standards and procedure are located on the school’s website, under Prospective Families. Maranatha Christian School admits students of any race, color, national, or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.


Our teachers are certified with the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools, which requires teachers complete yearly training to maintain their certification. Our staff has an average of 13 years of experience in the classroom. MCS is an accredited school through South Carolina Association of Christian Schools.

Class Sizes

We try to maintain a ratio of no more than one teacher for each 20 students, even less than that in our childcare. (Ask childcare director for childcare ratios). Our average teacher/student ratio during the 2015-2016 school year in K5-12 was 1:24.


The students have core subjects of Bible, English, Reading (Phonics-based), Math, History and Science. We offer electives in Physical Education, Music, Art, Library and Computer. K5 – 6th grade classes use ABeka and Bob Jones curriculum mainly, with supplements.

Bible and Chapel

Bible is a required subject at MCS. Chapel is held once a week. Our Chapels include a Preschool Chapel, an Elementary Chapel, and a Middle and High School Chapel.

Athletics & MCS Youth League

MCS offers athletics on the elementary, junior varsity and varsity levels. We belong to a youth athletic league complied of local private and Christian schools. We are members of the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools 2A for varsity sports. We offer girls volleyball, cheerleading, basketball and softball. We offer boys soccer, basketball, and baseball. Youth leagues are provided for soccer, basketball and cheerleading. Our gymnasium contains locker rooms, bathrooms, concessions, and weight room. For outside sports we have a soccer, softball, and baseball fields.


While academics are important, we like to have fun. The preschool and elementary grades have class parties, spring field days, field trips, Spirit Week, Grandparent’s Day, Christmas concerts, piano recitals, Thanksgiving celebrations, Book Fair, camps and much more. The middle school and high school have a Retreat, Spirit Week, field trips, Christmas concerts, spring concerts, Homecoming, Fine arts competitions, and much more.

Achievement Tests

Test point entrance tests are given to all new K5-12th students who enroll at MCS. The results are used to determine academic deficiencies and to establish grade placement. Each spring, the Stanford Achievement Tests are given to all students in grades first through 11th grade to insure on-going academic development. The 10th graders take the PSAT test. The 11th & 12th graders take the SAT, test (mandatory) and the ACT test (recommended).

Arrival and Departure Times

Our Childcare opens at 6:30 am for children in full day childcare and those students who need early arrival. All other buildings are unlocked at 8:00 am. Classes begin at 8:15 am. Classes are dismissed between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm.

Lunch Program

Maranatha provides a hot lunch to our students each day. Menus are sent home monthly. The fee for lunch is included in the weekly fee for preschool students however, the lunch fee for elementary and high school students is $3.50 daily. Catered lunch is provided 1 day per week for elementary and high school students. The cost for catered lunch is $4.00.

Before & Aftercare Program

Childcare is available to Maranatha students in preschool - sixth grade before and after school for an additional fee. Our childcare opens daily at 6:30 am and closes at 6:00 pm.
