MCS Choir

At MCS we believe fine arts is essential in a well-rounded education. Choir students are challenged to acknowledge the responsibility to use their talents and knowledge in the service of God and others.

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before
HIS presence with singing.

Maranatha Christian High School Choir

The MCS high school choir explores vocal techniques, choral singing tones, sight-reading and performance techniques. The art of choir reinforces qualities such as teamwork, self-discipline, and opens many amazing opportunities to strengthen one’s musical talent. Students are required to attend all concerts, rehearsals, events and the SCACS fine arts competition in the spring.

Dr. Kirven, MCS principle, is a woman of many talents. She received a bachelor’s degree in music education in 1995 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a full scholarship as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. She directs the choir and uses her expertise to build the fine arts program to a professional level. Leah Jenkins graciously uses her talent and accompanies the choir and other choral groups at MCS.

MCS CHAMBER CHOIR

The MCS chamber choir is a small choir of roughly 8 or more students. Typically, most of the students who are in the chamber choir, are more advanced singers and blend well in 4-part harmony.
